About Us

My photo
We enjoy to travel, to explore new & interesting places together. While traveling, Pam enjoys to practice her photography skills while Brian reviews the history. We also both enjoy learning about our family histories (and related travel when possible). And most of all we enjoy time with each other, friends and family.

Working in China

Last Friday I was invited to join Brian and his QRI team, as well as the Chinese people they work with, for lunch.  They are all nice people.  We ate local food at a restaurant near the office and each dish had to be named and explained for our benefit.  Nothing too weird, thank-goodness.  Notice the absence of forks. One lady commented that we must like to eat Chinese food at home because we were doing ok with our chopsticks.

The phone at my place was to show the interested ladies pictures of our family - 4 kids and 6 grandkids is unheard of since they live under the 1-child law.

Afterwards, I checked out the office.  Brian works for QRI, a consulting company that is assisting the Chinese National Oil Company with a field they are developing in Iraq.  This really is a global industry.  His office is on the 5th floor of the building behind.

Only a geoscientist could find oil in these pretty coloured pictures
So I left them to spend the afternoon working (and keep the world supplied with oil) while I headed off for my own adventure.
